Mote Marine Laboratory and its Protect Our Reefs program, pioneers in coral reef restoration and research in southeastern Florida and the Florida Keys, are proud to announce it free kids fishing seminar held during the 2011 Florida Keys Ocean Festival. Our goal is to teach children the basics of fishing skills, tackle, responsible catch and release practices, knot tying, and safety. Each child who registers and completes the fishing seminar will receive a brand new fishing rod with spinning reel to take home, free of charge. Your Child MUST attend to be eligible.

ONLINE REGISTRATION OPENS Feb. 10th, 2011
This offer for a free fishing rod and spinning reel is limited to the first 75 kids who register, participate and complete the seminar.
Time & Place: Sat. March 26th, 2011
1:30p @ the Florida Keys Eco-Discovery Center
The fishing seminar will start at 1:30p and all kids will need to be checked in at the Information booth located at the front entrance of the
Parents welcome to join the kids and fishing will take place off our barge docked behind the Florida Keys Eco Discovery Center.
This event is open to children ages 5-12.

The Florida Keys Ocean Festival is centered around celebrating our one of a kind local marine environment in the Florida Keys and educating the public on the best ways to make sure it's healthy and vibrant for many years to come.
Kids are the key to our future so showing them how to enjoy the benefits of our oceans and local waters while teaching them to respect all the living creatures in them is a positive step towards a brighter future for our environment.
Again, the first 75 kids that register and participate and complete the seminar will get to take home a rod and reel, courtesy of our sponsors Shakespeare Rods and Reels, Gulp Baits, and Okuma Fishing Tackle products.
This event is free to you and your children.
Donations to Mote Marine Laboratory are encouraged to help this fishing program reach out to more children in the future.
